At Sanskaar Bharti Public School, Alwar, festivals are celebrated not just as rituals, but as opportunities to bring together faith, culture, and education. Among the many festivals observed in our school, Janmashtami holds a very special place. It is a day dedicated to celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna, the divine incarnation who taught the world about love, righteousness, and devotion through his life and teachings.
This year’s Janmashtami celebration at our school campus was a grand affair, filled with devotion, color, music, and joy. The event gave our students an opportunity to connect with India’s rich cultural heritage while learning about the eternal values of truth, humility, and compassion.
Significance of Janmashtami
Janmashtami marks the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. His life stories, popularly known as “Krishna Leelas”, are full of lessons on courage, wisdom, and humanity. From the mischievous child who stole butter to the wise guide who delivered the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna is loved by all generations.
For children, Krishna is a symbol of innocence and playfulness. For students, he represents knowledge and discipline. For teachers and elders, he is the eternal guide, reminding us to live a life of righteousness.
At Sanskaar Bharti Public School, our celebrations are designed to not just honor the festival, but also to help students imbibe the values Krishna stood for.
Preparations and Decorations
The preparation for the celebration began days in advance. The school campus was decorated beautifully with flowers, matkis (earthen pots), and colorful rangolis. The main altar was adorned with an idol of Baby Krishna, decorated with peacock feathers, garlands, and lights.
Students and teachers came together to prepare for the event. Classrooms made small hand-made decorations like paper flutes, butter pots, and peacock crafts. These not only enhanced the festive look but also gave students a chance to express their creativity.
The excitement was visible on every face as children eagerly awaited the celebration day.
The Day of Celebration
The celebration began with a special morning assembly. The program started with prayers and devotional songs, creating a spiritual atmosphere throughout the campus. Teachers explained the significance of Janmashtami and narrated stories of Krishna’s childhood, his role in the Mahabharata, and his message of righteousness.
The most divine moment was the aarti of Lord Krishna, performed with devotion by the staff and students. The chanting of bhajans, ringing of bells, and fragrance of flowers created an atmosphere of divinity and peace.

Cultural Performances by Students
One of the highlights of the event was the cultural performances prepared by our talented students. Different classes presented short skits and dance performances depicting the life of Krishna. Some students enacted the Makhan-chor leela, showing the mischievous side of little Krishna.Others performed dance sequences on devotional songs like “Radhe Radhe” and “Govinda Ala Re”. A short play on the Bhagavad Gita, where Krishna guides Arjuna on the battlefield, was also presented, leaving the audience deeply inspired. The vibrant costumes, graceful expressions, and dedication of the students made the performances a treat to watch.
Message and Values
Beyond the rituals and festivities, Janmashtami is about learning the deeper values of life. During the program, teachers highlighted some important teachings of Krishna that are relevant even today:
- Always stand for truth and righteousness.
- Be humble even in success.
- Face challenges with courage and faith.
- Balance duties with devotion
These messages were shared with the students in a simple and engaging manner so that they could easily relate to them and apply them in their lives.
Involvement of Teachers and Staff
The entire event was possible because of the enthusiastic participation of teachers and staff members. From guiding students in preparing performances to managing decorations and arrangements, every teacher contributed wholeheartedly.
Their presence and encouragement not only motivated the students but also created a sense of unity and teamwork across the school.
Glimpses of the Celebration
The festival was captured in beautiful photographs — students dressed as Radha and Krishna, the decorated altar, the joyous cultural performances, and the heartfelt aarti moments. These pictures serve as a reminder of the love and devotion that filled the school campus during the celebration.
The Impact of the Celebration
Celebrations like Janmashtami play a vital role in shaping the character of students. By participating in such festivals, children learn the importance of traditions, respect for culture, and the joy of coming together as a community.
The event left every student with:
A sense of pride in India’s heritage.
An understanding of Krishna’s timeless values.
Memories of joy, creativity, and devotion.
It was not just a celebration but a living classroom, where lessons of love, faith, and kindness were experienced rather than just taught.
